The IRS...What they can do to you
Don't discount the following because of little things like the law, 'a kinder, gentler IRS', etc.
These people not only operate outside the law; in many cases, they make their own laws, which are then upheld by the courts.
They can not only garnishee your wages, they can seize all moneys owed to you by anyone, seize your bank account, car, home, and any other real or personal property owned by you.
They can (and will!) file liens against property you own or might acquire. This is a guaranteed life-destroyer. Those liens become public records; and the big credit reporting companies pick them up. You may lose whatever employment you have; and those liens on your record prevent you from finding a new job. They also ruin your credit...you can't buy a car or a home, get a credit card, or open a charge account.
If they choose to, the IRS can order your arrest and have you held indefinitely until you come up with the money they want. If you resist this, you are likely to be the subject of deadly force. You can spend long prison terms.
Yes, the IRS can AND WILL ruin your life! At the same time, their penalties and interest rates would be termed 'usurious' if anyone else tried to charge them.
That is why I urge you to write your Congressman and the President and demand an end to this extra-legal gangster organization. If enough people do so, we CAN get the system fixed!
In the meantime, though, don't buy into any of these 'you don't have to pay taxes' things. They'll get you into deep trouble; and they bear no responsibility.
Pay your taxes; but complain loudly and frequently to the Congress and the President!
