Common sense
Y'know, when something don't work, you try something else, right?
Take my wife...
She has it in her mind that doing things a certain way will result in becoming wealthy, so practically every waking minute is spent looking at things pertaining to money. We have become poorer and poorer over the last 20+ years; but she insists on continuing to do the same things the same way. Our relationship has suffered, because she not only blames me (silently), she resents any attempt by me to get romantic.
The same can be said of the Liberals. For 50 years, they controlled both houses of Congress and the Suoreme Court; but things never got better.
Still, they insist upon following the path to Socialism. Never mind that Socialism fails every time it is tried. It is what they want, and they will be satisfied with nothing less. They are losing elections left and right; but they won't look at other ways. Instead, they are trying to push Bush to appoint another Liberal to the SCOTUS, because they can avoid elections and legislation that way. They have learned that their ideas won't fly on a ballot, so they want to rule by judicial fiat.
Don't elect them! Don't reelect them! If you know any dirt on them, make it public!
